How to maintain shingles roofings

Shingles roofing is one of the most desirous traditional house complementary for its beautiful and lustrous wooden scale upon the tops of housing and its durability. Shingles roofings may be made out of different types of woods, but only good quality hearwoods are chosen to create the strong roofing. Balinese tends to love to use Borneo iron wood to make shingles roofing because of its beautiful reddish copper color although some other heartwoods may result in various colors such as greyish deep brown or other colors. Borneo iron wood shingles roofing is very strong and have great resistence towards insects attack, fungus and moss growth, and also bacteria and borers invasion. It is also has a very strong resistence towards wind and water and therefore by using this wooden shingles roofing you don’t need to be worry about rusting roofing. Neatly done shingles roofing made out of the same material as marine dock liner, Borneo iron wood, can also be resistance against termite attack, and besides that they are noise free, it is also have fresh lemon-like odor that bring a very pleasanting refining refreshment into your house.

Of course there are some maintenances that are needed to be done in order to keep the longevity and quality of your shingles roofing. Remember that woodens are frail against woodpecker attack, and that timbers may split, detach, or even decompose. To make sure that it is not happening, or if it is already happened, where the damage happened, you need to inspect your shingles roof from the inner side and also the outer side. If you happened to find any decayed wooden tile, remove it immediatelly because its moisture can penetrate other tiles and cause it to decay either; it might also be a source of bacteria and decaying agents so you might want to pluck it as soon as you can. You may use zinc plates to line the bottom side of the shingles tiles to prevent woodpecker pecks from damaging your roof.

If you happened to find moss growing upon your shingles roofing, you may not want to immediatelly eliminate the growing moss. Some mosses are actually nurturing your roofing tiles. But when mosses are growing too thickly, eliminate them immediatelly for the thickness may prevent your roofing’s evaporating progress and slow down its drying progress while moisture may leave various damage to your roof and leaking to your house which is not at all comfortable. Some says that copper strips placed under your tiles may prevent the growth of moss from 30 to 40 years expectancy, but periodical brushing may help to inhibit the growth. Remember that moisture caused by moss may results to fatal damage to your house as the acid runoff may leak and corrode metals in your housing construction. Better to regularly brush your moss down; moss will come back again in about 1 or two years in advance, but you’d better brush it down whenever it comes back before the fatal damage is done.
